Where Do Guinea Pigs Come From?
It’s a common myth that Guinea Pigs come from Guinea. Guinea Pigs actually come from South America in the Andes region. The ‘guinea’ in their name is a bit of a mystery!

Are They Related To Pigs?
Not at all! Guinea Pigs are a member of the rodent family. Although they make a squeaking noise, similar to a Pig, they are not in the same family!

Can They Talk To Each Other?
Guinea Pigs love to hang out with their friends and have a chat, it’s a popular pastime for them. As well as loving affection from humans, they love to spend time with other Guinea Pigs and gossip! We love to keep our Guinea Pigs together, they are very social animals and should be kept with the companionship of their friends and family.

Do Guinea Pigs Have An Odd Or Even Number Of Toes?
Guinea pigs have four toes on their front feet, but only three on their back ones. This means they are not the best climbers, and they are not the most agile creatures. But, it does help them to dig, which they love to do!

How Long Do Guinea Pigs Life For?
On average Guinea Pigs can live for 4 – 6 years. The record for the oldest Guinea Pig is held by Snowball, who lived to the age of 14 years, 10 months. This earned Snowball a place in the Guinness Book of Records!
