Goats

We have 11 goats at Nunny’s Farm, our goats are a favourite among many because of their loving and fussy personalities.

Goats were the first herded animal 9,000 years ago!

Goats were domesticated from wild goats about 10,000 years ago. They were originally bred for meat production, but today they are also used for milk, cheese, fiber, leather, and transportation. Goats are naturally curious and playful creatures, and they enjoy exploring their environment. They are herd animals, and like to stay close together. They are social animals, and will often follow each other around. They are very intelligent, and can understand commands given to them in several different languages. They are not aggressive towards humans unless provoked.

Goats can be taught their name and to come when called

Similar to training dogs to respond to their name, Goats have the same capabilities. Next time you’re at Nunny’s Farm, call out our goat’s names and see what happens!

Baby goats take their first steps moments after being born

We have birthed 4 goats ourselves at Nunny’s Farm and they are a big part of the Nunny family. When goats are first born they are able to begin walking within moments of life and it is such a treasure that we have had the opportunity to do this! On your next visit, make sure to check if we have any more baby goats for you to cuddle.
