Facts about ducks
What Kind Of Food Does A Duck Eat?
A Duck is what’s known as an omnivore, which means they eat a variety of different things, including plants and other animals. Although a lot of people feed Ducks bread, it is recommended that you feed them other things such as seeds, frozen peas, lettuce and of course, duck pellets. They LOVE duck pellets!
How Many Types Of Ducks Are There?
In the world, there are loads of different types of Ducks! Some of the most common types of Ducks are the Mallard, Muscovy and Domestic. Domestic Ducks are normally raised as pets, and they enjoy being spoilt and fed!
How Quickly Can Ducks Fly?
Baby Animals are much quicker at learning how to walk or fly than humans. Baby Ducks can learn to fly in 5-8 weeks of hatching. Once they learn how to fly, they will keep flying for their full lifespan, which can be up to 10 years if they are well cared for!
How Well Can Ducks See?
Like a lot of the other animals on the farm, Ducks have great vision. They can see well underwater and they can see much further away than humans.
Ducks Feathers Are Waterproof!
It makes sense for Ducks to have waterproof feathers as they spend most of their time in the water. This helps them to dive underwater without their bodies becoming too heavy. The wax coating on their feathers is the reason why they are waterproof.
Why Do Ducks Fly In A “V” Shape?
When you see Ducks flying in the sky, you often see them in a “V” shape. This is because the “V” shape makes it easier for them to fly in a group and sync up. Ducks love to spend time in groups, so flying together is a much-loved activity for them.
