Alpacas Are Social Animals!
Alpacas are social animals, and should always be kept together. They don’t like to be alone as they get lonely! They love to hang out with their friends and go on long walks together!
How Long Do Alpacas Live For?
Alpacas have an average lifespan of 20 years. Similar to their cousins, the Llamas, Alpacas can get as old as 20 years of age on average! The record for the oldest Alpaca is 27 years old!
Do Alpacas Smell Bad?
Alpacas like to be clean, and they do not have a bad smell! They like to have clean coats and are easy to take care of, which makes them a popular pet. They are also hypoallergenic, which is great for people with allergies.
Are Alpacas Safe To Be Around?
Yes! All of our animals on the farm are safe to be around. They are very quiet and gentle animals, just as long as you don’t scare them! So when you meet our Alpacas, be sure to match their nature and be gentle and quiet. If you respect them, you will have a friend for life!
What Do Alpacas Eat?
Alpacas are vegetarian! Their favourite snack is grass, but they also love leaves, wood, bark and stems. They do not have teeth at the top of their mouths, so they like soft food that doesn’t take too much chewing!
What Do You Call A Baby Alpaca?
The name for a baby Alpaca is “Cria”, and that means “breeding” in Spanish. Newborn Alpacas typically weigh between 10 and 17 pounds and they like to stay with their mum for the first 6-8 months of their life.
Where Do Alpacas Use The Toilet?
As an animal, Alpacas love a routine, and the same can be said for when they want to use the bathroom. That’s right, Alpacas use the same spot every time they want to poop! Alpacas are a popular pet for many, and this trait allows you to house-train them pretty easily!
Jimmy (Brown) & Johnny (white) are our wonderful Alpacas! You can meet our lovely Alpacas outside, where they love to play and run around.
